Giacomo Peru
Project Coordinator
Giacomo joined the Software Sustainability Institute in 2013 as a Project Officer at EPCC, the University of Edinburgh, with a role supporting finance, and the Community and Training teams.
He has worked closely with the Community team in the past providing support to both the Fellowship Programme and the Collaboration Workshops series. He takes care of the finance side of the Fellowship Programme and has co-developed lowFAT.
He has been a Software Carpentry workshop administrator for many years, seeing Software, Data and Library Carpentry through all their prior incarnations until their current setting. During these years, Giacomo has organised or participated in many workshops and has contributed in various capacities to the building, promotion and development of The Carpentries training. He is a badged instructor since 2014. His current Carpentries activities include leading Edinburgh Carpentries, the Scottish Workforce Development Data Carpentry and the coordination of Ed-DaSH.
He is involved in an initiative to promote Open Science and Carpentries training in Italy.
Formerly, Giacomo worked in local government in Sardinia. He was responsible for institutional communication and local development projects. During this time, Giacomo gained experience in the management of EU-funded projects.
Giacomo studied Classics at university and subsequently took a Master in European Politics and Communication.
