Collaborations Workshop 2024 (CW24)

The Collaborations Workshop 2024 (CW24) brought together researchers, developers, innovators, managers, funders, publishers, policy makers, leaders and educators to explore best practices and the future of research software.
The themes of CW24 were:
- Environmental Sustainability: including how to determine the environmental impact of your hardware and code, training and education about environmentally sustainable behaviour, and activism highlighting potential improvements to existing infrastructure, processes and systems.
- Artificial intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) tools for science: including benefits and limitations of using AI/ML tools to write your code, ethical considerations when using these tools, and training and education around the usage and impact of AI/ML tools.
- Citizen science: including designing participatory research projects, training and education around citizen science, and the role of research software in citizen science projects.

Collaborations Workshop 2023 (CW23) took place as a hybrid event at the University of Manchester, from Tuesday 2 May - Thursday 4 May 2023.

The workshop took place on March 25-27, 2015 at the Oxford e-Research Centre, Oxford which also supported the event. In addition, the event was generously sponsored by Github. Collaborations Workshop 2014 (CW14)

The 2014 Collaborations Workshop (CW14) brought together researchers, software developers, managers, funders and more to explore important ideas in software and research and to plant the seed of interdisciplinary collaborations.
The workshop took place on March 26-28th, 2014, at the Oxford e-Research Centre, and was generously sponsored by Microsoft Research and GitHub. This was reflected by a keynote talk and various types of sessions. For a comprehensive overview, please see the agenda or programme details below. The workshop concluded with the CW14 Hackday, which brought together developers and researchers to create solutions to some of the issues that were identified during the workshop.
