John Robinson
Senior Software Consultant
John joined the Institute's consultancy team at the start of 2014. In addition to working with our project partners, John deputises for the Consultancy Leader and helps provide oversight of the Institute's consultancy activities.
He graduated in biology from Southampton in 1996 and spent two further years there in a lab-based research role studying mechanisms of plant hormone transport.
John went on to spend six years developing federated biodiversity database systems in positions at the Universities of Cardiff, Reading and Southampton before taking up the post of Information Systems Development Manager in Southampton's School of Biological Sciences.
He joined OMII-UK in 2007 as a software engineer and worked on a wide range of projects with researchers from disciplines as diverse as Chemistry (OSCAR), Climate Science (ECIAS) and English (Century Diaries). He subsequently worked for the Initiative for Globus in Europe (IGE) and contributed to the development electronic lab notebooks (LabTrove) and sensor networks (LabBroker).
