A panel discussion, Towards adoption of FAIR4RS: equipping researchers with FAIR research software skills, is to be held at RSECon24, on Wednesday, 4 September, at 15:50-16:35 BST in G.41 (Main theatre).
During this discussion we will consider the challenges involved in developing training to equip researchers with the skills needed to create FAIR research software: what topics need to be included, how can we reach our target audience, how can we fund these activities and how can we motivate participants to carry forward the FAIR4RS principles?
Attendees will hear a broad range of viewpoints about helping researchers to meet FAIR4RS goals, both in terms of training provision and wider policy-making and funding considerations. They will have the opportunity to present their questions to the panel and to guide the discussion to reflect specific concerns or to explore new ideas about supporting researchers in developing FAIR4RS skills.
This panel will be of interest to community members who are involved in training researchers in better research software practices or who work in settings where research outputs include software. We invite attendees to share their experiences and pool ideas to guide the future provision of FAIR4RS training within the RSE community.
