Lucie works as part of the Software Sustainability Institute (SSI) communications team to organise events such as the Research Software Camp and update the website and blog. She is also in her final year of her PhD in Health in Social Science at the University of Edinburgh. She has a particular interest in data-driven policy and solutions to social exclusions in public health. In her research, she explores using machine learning to predict successful homelessness prevention in Scotland. Her work explores the feasibility of using machine learning and the available administrative data to figure out what works and where prevention efforts should be targeted. She is a big advocate for enhancing data science and coding skills in academia, research and the public sector. Outside of her research and SSI work, she enjoys organising and teaching workshops with Edinburgh Carpentries.
