Mike Jackson
Research Software Engineer
Mike is an Institute consultant. He received a PhD in human-computer interaction from Napier University in 1999, and has worked at the Edinburgh [University] Parallel Computing Centre, since 2001, where he is a software architect.
Prior to his time at the Institute, Mike has worked on the OGSA-DAI project and other data management, linked data and Grid projects at EPCC.
Currently, Mike develops guides on best practice and assists researchers and their communities by developing, supporting and assessing their software. He has worked with a number of projects and groups including the Edinburgh-based Brain Research Imaging Centre, the Muon Ion Cooling Experiment, DiRAC, SURegen, DIAMOND, OGSA-DAI workbench, JournalTOCS, and RAPPORT. Mike also instructs upon Software Carpentry boot camps and runs "what makes good code good" discussion sessions.
