Interests
My main scientific interest to add or maximize the value to scientific data (e.g. soil moisture, river network, water quality, earth obs., biodiversity, pollution exposure, citizen science). And to do so, it requires software! Therefore, I am an advocate of open science and software. I have a broad interest in methods to extract information from data, model-data integration, and interactive visualization for stakeholder engagement.
My work
I am an environmental data scientist at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, with a background in subsurface hydrology (e.g. flow and transport modelling, aquifer characterisation) and geophysics (e.g. electrical resistivity tomography). My PhD work focuses on coupling different computational process models and quantify uncertainty propagation along a modelling workflow, as well as developing and applying new methods for geophysical inversion.
At UKCEH, my work focus on advancing and demonstrating the use and capability of data science methods for a wide range of environmental applications and seek to create step changes in environmental research. This includes novel application of machine learning and statistical methods, fostering and advocating for open research and software, improving research narratives using notebook technology, data quality control, promoting the use of virtual labs, and increasing research impact via web apps.
I am a member the Centre of Excellence in Environmental Data Science (CEEDS).
