FORCE2021: Joining Forces to Advance the Future of Research Communications

Posted by j.laird on 13 September 2021 - 9:30am

FORCE11 logoFORCE11's annual conference for 2021 will be held online 7-9 December under the theme “FORCE2021: Joining Forces to Advance the Future of Research Communications”.

The FORCE11 annual conference is a different kind of meeting, where stakeholders come together – or scrummage – for an open discussion, on an even playing field, to talk about changing the ways scholarly and scientific information is communicated, shared and used. Researchers, publishers, librarians, computer scientists, informaticians, funders, educators, citizens, and others attend the FORCE11 meeting with a view to supporting the realisation of promising new ideas and identifying new potential collaborators.

FORCE2021 brings a number of curated keynotes and panel discussions that focus on the future of research communication. The conference also welcomes community submissions for lightning talks and posters through the Call for Proposals.

FORCE2021 is organised by FORCE11, an organising community of volunteers and in collaboration with multiple community-led and advocacy groups and organisations working towards the future of scholarly communications.

Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Call for Proposals

FORCE2021 consists of 50% curated conference sessions and 50% community contributed sessions. The curated sessions will come in the formats of keynotes and panel discussions while the community contributed sessions will come in the formats of lightning talks, poster sessions and birds of a feather sessions. The conference sessions are carefully distributed over multiple time zones to maximise the opportunity for participation and attendance across the globe.

FORCE2021 organising committee is pleased to announce the call for proposals for community contributed sessions in the following formats:

  • Lightning talks (maximum of five minutes).
  • Posters, that is, infographics or slideshows with the option for the presenter to engage with attendees synchronously and asynchronously in a virtual meeting space.
