The Carpentries 2023 Instructor Notes Drive

The Carpentries logo and a group of hands putting together a wooden jigsaw puzzle.-The Carpentries are carrying out an Instructor Notes Drive, which started Monday 8 May and will run through to the end of next week, Friday 19 May.

During this time, the community can help expand, update, and improve the guidance provided to Instructors on any and all of The Carpentries lessons. It is a great opportunity to make an impact on the effectiveness of Carpentries lessons, to learn more about how to contribute to lessons, and to practice and develop your skills working with Markdown, Git, and GitHub. It is also a good chance to get some hands-on experience working with the new lesson infrastructure.

To learn more about the Instructor Notes Drive, including links to instructions and tutorial videos describing how to edit the Instructor Notes on a lesson, check out the blog post published at the end of last week

The Curriculum Team will host six Coworking Sessions over the course of the Instructor Notes Drive. These will provide a space for community members to contribute to the Drive together, ask questions and learn from each other. You can find connection details for these sessions, and add your name if you plan to attend, in the relevant Etherpad.

The following coworking sessions are scheduled for the 2023 Instructor Notes Drive:

  1. 9th May 2023, 10:00 UTC, hosted by Toby Hodges
  2. 11th May 2023, 00:00 UTC, hosted by Erin Becker
