Call for submissions for CarpentryCon 2020 – and for your t-shirt designs

capentrycon.jpgProgramme submissions are currently being requested for CarpentryCon 2020, which will be held in Wisconsin from 29 June to 1 July 2020. Talented (and otherwise!) designers are also encouraged to submit their design ideas for the conference t-shirt.

The call for applications to receive financial aid scholarship to attend the event is also now open.

The Carpentries recently announced that it has secured $2.65 million (£2.07 million) in funding over three years from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. This will allow the project to increase and continue its trainer development programme, to build CarpentriesLabs - a platform for community sharing and dissemination of open source training courses, to create resources that will broaden the engagement of the community, and to develop curricula for EukRef and UniEuk, and eukaryotic genome analysis.

The funding has also allowed the project to advertise for three new roles: a deputy director of instructor training, a communications manager, and two curriculum community developers.

The Carpentries is looking for people to nominate themselves to its executive council. The community has identified its core values, and is running its regular six-monthly survey on the long-term impact of its training.
