Call for RSE volunteer code reviewers for Research Software Camp

We're looking for expert volunteers for our Research Software Camp in November 2021 to take part in code review clinics.

This call closes on Friday 1st October 2021.

As part of our next Research Software Camp: Beyond the Spreadsheet, we are looking to help people new to coding or at a beginner level to be more confident with their code. To do this, we’re recruiting RSE volunteers that can review submitted code and provide advice and general feedback at the RS Camp code review clinic.

The clinic will be hosted throughout the second week of the camp (8-12 November) for 30 minutes each day.

We’re expecting volunteers to be able to commit around half a day (spread over a couple of weeks) prior to Week 2 of the Camp, and at least two 30 mins sessions as part of the code review clinic on Week 2. You will be able to choose your session and the code that you review and give feedback to.

If you’re interested, send an email to s.aragon@software.ac.uk with your expression of interest and a brief description of your suitability.

About the Research Software Camps

The Software Sustainability Institute will run its Research Software Camp: Beyond the Spreadsheet from 1 to 12 November. The Camp will focus on the uses of spreadsheets in research and first steps into further use of software in research. Our online events and resources will collate different perspectives, experiences, and best practice of the use of spreadsheets, as well as signpost to existing resources.
