Artificial intelligence in the biosciences virtual community building meeting

Posted by j.laird on 15 March 2021 - 9:30am

UKRI BBSRC logoUKRI-BBSRC will run a virtual community building meeting for artificial intelligence in the biosciences on Wednesday 19 May 2021.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and its application is an area of growing interest within the biosciences research and innovation community. This interest is reflected more broadly in the recently published UKRI statement of opportunity ’Transforming our world with AI’ (PDF), which sets out the cross-disciplinary and cross-sector opportunities to support AI research and innovation in the UK.

The event aims to raise awareness of the potential AI has for the biosciences and to illustrate where it has already made a difference. It will also promote networking between communities and help UKRI-BBSRC understand the opportunities and challenges of AI for the biosciences in particular, inclusive of artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, neural networks and other related technologies.

The meeting will be online from approx. 9:30 to 16:00. Participants are welcome from across the bioscience research and innovation community and from all career stages. They would also particularly encourage professional support staff to take part, as well as members from outside the bioscience community working in areas that could become relevant to the biosciences.
