Dr Johanna Walker is a Research Fellow at the University of Southampton. Her current research focuses on data governance and data and software literacy, in particularly software and data policy and practice in the Arts and Humanities research communities.
Her particular interests lie around the just and fair use of citizen data, and data provision and use for underserved communities.
Her PhD thesis focused on the use of open data for open innovation, with a particular interest in smart cities and the public sector. She has worked on many data projects, including Data Pitch and Smart Cities Innovation Framework Implementation, and is an Open Data Institute registered trainer.
As well as being a tutor for the Southampton Data Science Academy, Johanna is an Area Editor for the journal and conference Data & Policy. She holds a MBA with Distinction from London Business School where she specialised in strategy and entrepreneurship, and a MSc in Web Science.
