Devasena works in our consultancy team and helps researchers and their communities by providing software development effort and expertise. She also promotes the Institute's events, and helps to deliver workshops, training and presentations.
Prior to this, Devasena worked as a senior programmer and tester for Royal Sun Alliance and Accenture India. She received her BA in Electronics and Communications Engineering in 2010, and read an MA in Computer Science, with specialisation in Automation and Robotics, at the University of Salford.
Her Masters thesis investigated mapping using a cloud-based web platform and multi-robot map merging with Adaptive Monte-Carlo localisation technique. This was implemented on Robot Operating System (ROS), an open-source middleware with cloud as a storage resource.
On the training side, she has taught at four Software Carpentry workshops, at Southampton, Reading, Nottingham and Leeds as an instructor.
