Caroline Jay
Research Director
Caroline Jay joined the Institute as a Fellow in 2016, and became Research Director in 2018. She now leads its mission to provide an evidence base for research software engineering policy and best practices, a cornerstone of which is the EPSRC People at the Heart of Software Engineering project, STRIDE which is investigating and improving resilience in software development.
Caroline is qualified as a Computer Scientist (MSc, PhD) and Chartered Psychologist (BA, CPsychol) and undertakes research across these domains, determining how to improve software sustainability from both technical and cultural perspectives.
She is a Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute, the Software Engineering lead for the EPSRC Human-Like Computing Network+ and ESRC Emerging Minds Network+, and a Director of Open Data Manchester.
