Dynamic Reoptimisation of Distributed Workflows in OGSA-DAI

Primary Mentor: Amy Krause (a.krause@epcc.ed.ac.uk)
Secondary Mentor: Radek Ostrowski

Background

ADMIRE is a project that aims to develop a distributed architecture for data mining and integration. The ADMIRE gateway is a service that processes and enacts distributed dataflows. The current prototype has been implemented using OGSA-DAI as the enactment engine platform.

Project Goals

This project will look into improving the performance of distributed dataflows on OGSA-DAI, possibly focussing on relational joins. We're interested in investigating extensions to OGSA-DAI that allow pausing a workflow during runtime and rearranging the components (so-called activities in OGSA-DAI) to optimise the data flow, taking into account profiling observations.

Project Description

Project Requirements

Java programming skills are required as OGSA-DAI and the ADMIRE prototypes are pure Java applications.
