Sustainability training workshop - 12 December 2011, Oxford
The Digital Social Research Directorate and the Software Sustainability Institute will be running a joint sustainability training programme on 12 December 2011, 10.30 – 4.30. The training course will be held in Oxford and is primarily aimed at developers working on social research projects. The directorate strongly encourages all projects to send their main developers along as it will be very useful in framing final project evaluations etc.
You can register for free on the DSR website.

11.30-11.45: Break
11.45.-12.45: Managing Sustainability into Software: Workshop
This is the interactive part of the workshop where attendees will learn how to build sustainable software.
12.45-13.45: Lunch
13.45-14.45: What makes good code good?
...is an age old question. We could just ask 100 people and get 100 answers but instead, in this session, we'll come up with what we believe to be the right answer, then see how our answer compares with the definitions of software development gurus and other researchers.
14.45-15.00: Break
15.00-16.00 Sustainability surgery
A chance to have your questions answered. Before the workshop, we will contact attendees to see what problems they've experienced so that we can work on solutions at the workshop.
